The increasing popularity of social media apps has the potential to provide teachers and
students with a platform for innovative and engaging language learning. One of the
most popular social media apps in this era is TikTok. TikTok shows potential as a
language acquisition tool because of its fun application. The content available on
TikTok can be used for various learning activities, especially language learning.
However, there is a lack of explanation of interaction activities and their levels in each
of these learning videos. Furthermore, the purpose of this study is to examine the
existence of CEFR interaction competence in communicative activities and its level that
might be found on TikTok using the reference of the illustrative descriptor scale. As a
result, the video can be used by teachers according to the interaction competence and
the level desired by the teacher for teaching materials. This study used a content
analysis method with a qualitative approach. The research was conducted by collecting
the top 250 learning videos from the search results for the hashtag #learnenglish. The
results of the study show that there are many types of interactions along with different
levels that are found in the TikTok learning videos. The activites that were found the
most were the overall oral interaction competence with a score of 291 and the level was
A2 with a performance of 46%. These findings imply that the results of learning video
analysis through the TikTok application are very suitable for someone who is learning
or teaching at A2 Level in improving language communication skills in Conversation
exercises which are included in the overall oral interaction competence section.
